An experienced central midfielder turned central defender, John joined United on a two-year deal on transfer deadline day, 31st August 2017, having been released by Burton Albion earlier in the day. John started his career at Brentford, making his debut against Oxford in the Football League Trophy in October 2005. He moved to Wycombe Wanderers in 2008 but left after two years to sign for Stevenage. He scored the only goal in the 2011 League Two Play-Off final against Torquay to win promotion and the following season helped Boro to the League One Play-Offs. He then signed for Preston North End, but returned to Stevenage on loan in January 2014, following an earlier loan to Gillingham. Mousinho joined Burton in June 2014, helping the Brewers to successive promotions from League Two to the Championship.
