Alex joined United on transfer deadline day, 31st August 2017, on loan from Barnsley until the end of the season. The former England U20 international can play either in central midfield or on the left wing. The 22-year-old started his career with Leeds United, coming through the ranks and breaking into the first team in August 2013. He went on to make over a hundred appearances for Leeds, where he was coached by U’s boss Pep Clotet. In January 2017 he moved to Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.
