Agon joined United as a free agent on 7th September 2017 on a one-year contract, having been released by Turkish side Gençlerberliği. Born in the Former Yugoslavia Republic of Serbia, in what is now Kosovo, he moved to Sweden as a young child and came through the youth system at Malmö FF, becoming the side’s top scorer in 2010 when they won the Allsvenskan. At Malmö he worked with United boss Pep Clotet and played alongside Ricardinho and Ivo Pękalski, representing Sweden at under 19 and under 21 level until he chose to play for Albania at full international level, winning three caps in 2013. In between two spells at Malmö, where he played in the Champions League, he played in Italy for Palermo and on loan in Portugal as well as a brief stay in Norway before his sojourn in Turkey.
