Date of birth
‘King’ was one of the core players who stayed with United as the club rose from the Southern League to the Second Division during the 1960s. He joined United on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and when the club joined the Football League, Oxford paid Wolves a club-record £5,000 for him. His imperious performances at centre-back earned interest from many higher-level clubs, but he remained with the U's. In over 10 years at the club, Kyle made almost 450 appearances.
