Remembrance Day Fixture

This fixture will be Oxford United's annual Remembrance Day fixture, as we come together to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in armed conflict and to support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Our Men’s Team will wear special-edition Poppy shirts for the fixtures against Millwall, Stoke City, and West Bromwich Albion. Following the games, all shirts will be signed and auctioned, with proceeds going directly to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

James Drury will lay a wreath on behalf of Oxford United supporters. James served 22 years in the Army, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant based in Abingdon, and completed deployments to Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Poland. The first decade of his military career was spent in Germany, where he was proud to participate in, organise, and lead Remembrance Day parades throughout his service.

James now serves as a Troop SSgt in the Army Reserve based at Marlow.

Laying a wreath on behalf of Millwall supporters at the game is Danny O’Callaghan, brother of Private Lee O’Callaghan, who lost his life in Basra, Iraq, on the 9th August 2004, aged just 20.

Private Lee O’Callaghan served with the 1st Battalion, The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, based in Tidworth, from December 2003 until he was tragically killed during an attack by insurgents in Basra.

To commemorate his sacrifice, a new street - O’Callaghan Way - was named in his honour in Elephant and Castle in 2017, just a stone’s throw from where he grew up. In 2019, a memorial bench dedicated to Lee was also unveiled at The Den.

Today, his brother Danny joins us to lay a wreath and pay tribute to Lee’s memory on behalf of his family and Millwall Football Club.

Form Guide - Snapshot

  • Oxford United: W2 D1 L2 from the previous five games. Saturday's victory over Sheffield Wednesday in testing circumstances provided a much-needed boost ahead of this weekend's fixture. Oxford are looking to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.
  • MillwallW4 D0 L1 in their last five. The Lions have hit great form in recent weeks, winning four games on the bounce. They currently sit third in the table and have only conceded one goal in the past four games. Their last defeat came at home to table-toppers Coventry.

The Rivalry - A Quick Head-to-Head Check

The two clubs have met 56 times since their first encounter in 1953, with Oxford claiming 19 victories, Millwall winning 23 matches, and 14 games ending in draws.

In recent years, Oxford United have enjoyed the upper hand against the Lions, winning two, drawing two, and losing just one of the last five encounters.

The Connections - Worn Both Badges

  • Tom Bradshaw: The Yellows striker joined the Club in January and has quickly become a popular figure in the dressing room. Before making the move to the Kassam Stadium, he enjoyed seven successful years at Millwall. Initially arriving on loan from Barnsley in 2018, Bradshaw went on to make 194 appearances for the Lions, scoring 43 goals.
  • James Henry: The right midfielder played over 200 times for the U's, scoring 51 goals. Henry finished as the Club's top scorer for the 2018-19 season and was a part of the squad that gained promotion from League One in 2024, but injuries meant he did not play as often as he and the fans would have liked. Prior to his successful stint at Oxford, he played for this weekend's visitors from 2009 to 2014. Henry proved to be a hit from the off with Millwall fans after scoring a 35-yard rocket on debut. He would go on to make 146 appearances in total and score 18 goals.
  • Paul Moody: A fans’ favourite at the Manor Ground between 1994 and 1997, Moody made 136 appearances for Oxford United and netted 49 goals. After two seasons with Fulham, he joined Millwall, where he struck up a prolific partnership with Neil Harris, scoring 25 times in 60 games. Having helped the Lions secure the Division Two title, Moody returned to Oxford for the 2001/02 campaign, adding a further 13 goals in 35 appearances.

What’s Driving Millwall’s Flying Start This Season?

1) Millwall boss Alex Neil is known for his tactical flexibility, tailoring his setup to suit the opposition. More often than not, the Lions line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation — a system that provides defensive solidity while allowing fluidity going forward. The wingers play a key role in this approach, alternating between stretching play out wide and drifting inside to link through the middle.

2) Millwall look to implement an aggressive press when out of possession, seeking to win the ball back high up the pitch. This approach has been particularly effective in the latter stages of matches, as opposition defences begin to tire.

3) Alex Neil described the win against Leicester last Saturday as a "test of their credentials" and so the manager and his players have set their sights on a top six finish this season.

4) Femi Azeez has had a bright start to the season, scoring four goals and therefore doubling his tally for last season after just seven games. The former Reading winger will be looking to use his pace and trickery to cause the Oxford United full-backs trouble on Saturday.

Tristan Crama: Millwall's defensive rock

Crama joined Millwall in January 2025 from Brentford FC after a series of successful loan spells at Exeter City and Bristol Rovers. Though initially deployed at right-back (due to injuries in the squad), he quickly demonstrated that his natural position—centre-back—was where he could make the most impact. His adaptation has been impressive: one moment he’s covering the flank, the next he’s anchoring the back four in central defence.

Millwall boss Alex Neil has described Crama as “just a beast” when it comes to one-vs-one defending, and emphasised his pace down the side and dominance in the air. At around 1.92 m tall (“6’4”), his aerial presence means he wins headers, deals with crosses, and is dangerous on set-pieces. Additionally, his passing and ball-playing ability mean he’s not just a stayer-behind-defender — he helps Millwall build from the back.

Crama will relish the challenge of facing the likes of Nik Prelec and Will Lankshear, and if Millwall continue their impressive run of defensive solidity, he’s likely to be the key orchestrator at the heart of their back line.
