Oxford United make the long 340-mile round trip to West Yorkshire to take on Huddersfield Town under the Tuesday night lights for their third match of the Sky Bet League One campaign.
The fixture kicks off at 7:45pm on Tuesday 1 September at the Accu Stadium.

The 2026/27 season marks Huddersfield Town's third straight season in League One following last season's ninth place finish. Despite pushing for the play-offs last season, the Terriers fell just short and will now be aiming to finish inside the top six and give themselves a chance of promotion back to the Championship.
Founded in 1908, the Terriers have enjoyed success at the highest levels of the game, including winning three consecutive First Division titles in the 1920s. Town did more recently enjoy a two-year spell in the Premier League from 2017-2019, but the fans have reluctantly grown used to life in League One. However, some astute-looking transfer business in the summer has grown the hopes of a better season among the fanbase once more.
Opposite Aaron Ramsey in the Huddersfield Town dugout on Tuesday night will be Martin Drury. Born in Huddersfield, Drury has built a coaching career with clubs including Bradford City, Manchester United, West Bromwich Albion, Valencia and Brentford. He joined Huddersfield in January 2026 as an assistant before taking temporary charge alongside Jon Stead. After impressing during that spell, he was appointed permanent head coach in May 2026 following Liam Manning's departure. With a plethora of experience as an assistant coach in the past, Drury is now looking to build a successful team of his own and stamp a promotion on his CV early in his career.
HOW ARE BOTH CAMPS SHAPING UP?
Both these teams have made positive starts to the new season, each taking four points from six with a win and a draw so far.
United’s victory away at Stevenage last time out was particularly impressive, given the challenge posed by a side that conceded just 13 goals and suffered only two home defeats throughout the whole of last season. Gatlin O’Donkor and Cam Brannagan got on the scoresheet to secure all three points, with Aaron Ramsey once again showing his willingness to rotate his starting XI and make bold calls when it comes to substitutions.
The head coach has made it clear that he isn’t afraid to go against convention, selecting the players and making the changes he believes will best suit the team rather than simply following expectations. So far, that approach is paying dividends, with United making an unbeaten start to the campaign.
Huddersfield Town have made an impressive start to the campaign themselves, thumping AFC Wimbledon on the opening day, securing a point away to MK Dons, and winning away to Cambridge United at the weekend.
The Terriers are being tipped to be up towards the top of the league by the time the end of the season comes round, due to their experienced and talented squad, and they believe now is the time to return to the second flight.
WHO COULD PROVE TO BE THE KEY MEN FOR EACH TEAM?
United have made an unbeaten start to the campaign, with Gatlin O'Donkor playing a key role from the substitutes’ bench. The 21-year-old academy graduate provided the assist for Ciaron Brown’s late goal against MK Dons with an excellent low cross, before producing another impressive display at Stevenage, where he found the back of the net and won a penalty in the second half.
After such a strong start to the season, U’s fans could soon see O'Donkor given the opportunity to make his impact from the start. Ramsey will now have to decide whether to stick with Mark Harris or give O'Donkor the chance to lead the line, or even find a way to accommodate both in his starting XI.
The hosts have also made an excellent start to the season, winning two out of three and sitting second in the League One table. Striker Joe Taylor has three goals already this season, with his brace on Saturday securing the sides victory away to Cambridge United.
The striker, who spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic and scored 15 League One goals, has quickly established himself as a key attacking threat for the Terriers with his ability to run in behind the defence and cause chaos in the penalty area.
TEAM NEWS
The biggest injury concern for United heading into this game is for goalkeeper Jamie Cumming. Despite being back in training this week, it is yet to be seen whether he will be fit enough to start this one. Should Cumming be unable to play, Simon Eastwood will make his first EFL start since February 2024.
The U's will continue to be without the services of Ruben Roosken, Frankie Kent and Jeon Jin-Woo due to injury.
Huddersfield will be without Cameron Ashia, Sean Roughan, Herbie Kane and Marcus McGuane due to injury, while defender Jack Whatmough will miss a third consecutive game as he continues to recover from a minor groin issue.
Fellow defender Bali Mumba will serve the final game of a three-match suspension after being sent off in the victory over AFC Wimbledon on the opening day of the season.

PREVIOUS MEETING & HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD
Amazingly, it has been over 20 years since these two teams last met. You'd have to go back to March 2004 for the last meeting, when Huddersfield claimed a 1-0 victory at the Kassam Stadium when both teams were competing in League Two. Former Nigerian international centre-back Efe Sodje scored the only goal of the game on that occasion.
The last time the U's beat Huddersfield Town was in 1997, when Martin Aldridge and Nigel Jemson scored in a 2-0 win.
