Oxford United Women are recruiting a Head of Girls Football who will oversee and drive the Club's girls programme. The Head of Girls' role is to manage and support all staff within the pathway.

This role is to develop the Club coaching philosophy and ensure high-quality delivery, safeguarding, player development pathways, and a positive, inclusive environment for all female players from foundation to elite levels.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing technical coaching to the Women’s first team once per week and be part of the matchday MDT.

Main responsibilities

  • To help build and implement a full coaching structure and philosophy, and ensure this is delivered effectively by coaches.
  • Responsible for the overall development and organisation of the programme activities and is the main point of contact for any enquiries.
  • Management, development, and recruitment of all technical staff across the girls’ set-up, inclusive of coaches, medical, performance, and welfare.
  • Ensure the development of players with a view to producing players that are up to first-team standard.
  • Work closely with the General Manager on budgets and staffing.
  • Work closely with and manage the FP lead, YDP lead, and operations lead.
  • Manage the transition process, moving high-potential players up to the first team when ready.
  • Ability to accommodate flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • The Head of Girls must be present at training sessions each week, as well as girls' home games, which include the setup and management of home matchdays.
  • Attend and be part of the MDT at all first-team matches.
  • Organising suitable levels of CPD for coaches and players.
  • Carry out relevant and dynamic IDP sessions that aid individuals' learning and development.
  • To lead on the welfare of all persons within the girls’ programme in conjunction with the Head of Safeguarding.
  • Ensure concise, accurate, and proactive communication of information across the programme, to players, parents, and staff members.
  • Work with the Operations Lead to help manage the trials and retention process, ensuring the highest levels of competition.
  • Support, deliver, and drive Club-wide strategies and objectives as set by the General Manager and Head of Football Development.
  • Support the ETC Lead to ensure the smooth running of the programme, along with meeting the governance criteria set by the ETC Licence provided by the FA & take control of external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all the policies and procedures contained within the employee handbook.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the General Manager or Head of Football Development.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience - Essential

  • UEFA B
  • Strong working knowledge and passion for female football
  • Experience in coaching football and developing young players
  • Ability to work collaboratively in putting strategic documentation together
  • Experienced in coaching, mentoring, and development
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Knowledge, Skills & Experience - Desirable

  • UEFA A
  • Strong understanding of FA rules and regulations
  • Strong understanding of FA Safeguarding guidelines
