The former Reading midfielder joined United on loan from Feyenoord on 8th January 2020 until the end of the season.
In August 2020 he returned to the U’s from the Dutch side on a season-long loan. Capped for the Republic of Ireland at U19 and U21 levels, Kelly joined the Dutch side from Reading in July 2019 but found opportunities hard to come by, despite playing almost 100 games for Reading in the Championship.
