PREVIEW | Burton Albion Away

Everything you need to know as United head for the Pirelli

5 April 2024

Oxford United's penultimate scheduled away trip of the season takes them to Burton Albion in Sky Bet League One (3pm).

After beating Fleetwood Town 4-0 last time out, United will be full of confidence as they take on 20th-placed Burton Albion.

The game is no longer all ticket, so although tickets are now off sale from the Oxford United ticket office, supporters can buy them on the day at the Pirelli Stadium.

TEAM NEWS

United have no new injury worries following the Fleetwood game, with Marcus Browne hoping to make his first start since 19th August.

Kyle Edwards has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, but otherwise the squad has a clean bill of health.

THE OPPOSITION

Burton haven't won in their previous nine fixtures but will be hoping to pull away from danger. Brewers boss Martin Paterson said:

"My job is to get the players fully energised to give a complete performance to win a game of football at home for the supporters, for myself, for them and everyone who supports them. Football owes you nothing, but I do feel the players deserve a victory for their efforts because that effort is there. We need to get over this block and get three points and kick on from there.

“I haven’t got time to sit in that moment and those emotions after Monday. I have to break it down from a cold hard analytical standpoint and see what we did wrong. We identified that pretty quickly and we know what we need to do – to be continuously aggressive and not sit off.

“Oxford are a good team, so don’t get me wrong, but it’s still a great opportunity for us to come and react – and we need a reaction. You have to push hard for that one result that can change things and I believe Saturday can be it."
