Several of the Young U’s have gone on loan to get men’s football experience for the rest of the season

A number of Oxford United’s Scholars have gone out on loan for the remainder of the season.

Second Year Scholars Fraser Barnsley and Ibby Sankoh will join Evesham United, the former joining the side for his second spell this year.

Centre back Erion Zabeli, also a Second Year Scholar, has joined Salisbury.

Two Young U’s will join Oxfordshire based sides; U18 skipper George Franklin has joined North Leigh, whilst First Year Scholar Aidan Elliott-Wheeler will join Banbury United, where former United defender Andy Whing is manager.

Third Year Scholar Eddie Brearey has joined St Ives Town.

All of the loans are for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Academy Manager Stevie Kinniburgh told us

“It’s a great opportunity for these young players to go out and get some experience under their belts and hopefully help these sides for the rest of the season.

“The boys have had a great year and we are sure that they can bring a lot to the respective sides they’re joining, and we know they’ll be eager to learn everything they can.

Everyone at Oxford United wishes the boys the best of luck for the rest of the season.
