Oxford United and Burton Albion will be greeted by Kennington Athletic Under 13s who are our Guard of Honour for our Sky Bet League 1 game at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
Managed by Dominic Howson, coached by Jon Ovenden and Robin Timms, the Yellows are a village team founded in 1968.
Kennington Athletic are dedicated to delivering youth and adult football throughout the village of Kennington and surrounding areas.
The team has been together since 2016 from the academy and the squad still has the same nucleus of players from the academy, the aim has always been to develop the team. The boys have developed a strong friendship over the years and always look out for each other.
Although everyone wants to win, keeping it fun is a big part of their ethos. Kennington Athletic Under 13s Yellows currently play in the B League of the Oxfordshire Youth Football League. The team have won a few tournaments and league cup trophies.
Jon and Dom said “We’ve seen the boys develop their skill knowledge, teamwork and discipline, over the years which is very satisfying but it’s not only as football players but as a group of boys. There are times where we pull are hair out! But this is easily outweighed by the laughs and banter the boys give us back”
