Oxford United’s Under 19s travel to Watford tomorrow for their first game in a new competition.
The Professional Development League Cup sees clubs with Category 2 Academies competing in four team groups, aiming to progress to the knock-out stages where they will compete with Category 1 clubs.
The U’s have been drawn in the same group as Watford, Luton Town and Colchester United and coach Pablo Haysham told us:
“We’re looking forward to it. The team get a chance to play teams we don’t usually come up against in our league, there is a good incentive to try and get through and it will be a good game on Saturday.
"We have had a young squad so far anyway with Gatlin O’Donkor and Josh Johnson involved with the First Team so this will be another really good experience for our younger players and we will travel to Watford looking to start the competition strongly.
