Oxford United head for Coventry this weekend fresh from a remarkable win over Bradford City that lifted them out of the bottom four.
The bottom half of League 1 is as tight as it could possibly be right now and Head Coach Karl Robinson is looking for his side to make it back to back away wins when they take on the Sky Blues on Saturday.
“In the end it was the right outcome last Saturday” he told iFollow earlier today. “We deserved to win and the goal was legal so everything was fine and we got a very important win. Forgetting all that, we played very well and have been doing well in recent weeks.
”Coventry are doing well too and we will show them the same respect we show every team. Whether teams are at the top or the bottom of the table your attention to detail should never waver in your preparations. They are a very good side and I have really enjoyed watching them in the build up to this game- they play great football with terrific pace in the team and a calmness through the thirds which is a joy to watch.
“We will be without Gavin Whyte and his pace and directness is always dangerous but we also have players who have been waiting for their chance to flourish. Our aim is for everyone to perform to their maximum.
“The players who came into the team last week did well, the players that came on did well and those that didn’t get on still showed great support for their teammates - you can see that in the celebrations after the goal.
"We are all one team with one goal now. It’s not the goal we aspired to last summer but there have been so many different things beyond all of our control. If you look at our form, taking the first ten games out of the season when we had so many injuries, then we wouldn’t be too far off the play-offs ourselves. It was one thing after another and it was so difficult to get any momentum at that stage, but we feel we now have a platform and if we can keep our players fit and hungry then we can find the consistency you need to be successful.”
