7 October 2019

Oxford United Women get set for their second game in three days as they face Hounslow at Court Place Farm on Tuesday (KO 19.45).

After a good start to the season, with eight goals in their first two games, United then followed that up with two defeats and will be looking to get back to winning ways against Hounslow.

Game Information

There is also plenty of food and drink available at Court Place Farm and a great chance to bring the family down for an evening of football.

Team News
Brogan Moore will miss out again as she remains on international duty with Scotland U19s and due to the side’s second game in 72 hours, First Team Manager Liam Gilbert is likely to make a few changes to the side that started against Watford on Sunday.

Defender Gemma Sims told us:

“I think with the three home games on the bounce now it will help us get back to our form and back to winning ways and that’s when we are going to need the whole squad with three games this week. I think it will show the strength and depth we have in the squad.”

REPORT: Oxford United Women 11 Hounslow 0

United Women back to winning ways in style

8 October 2019

A dominant display from Oxford United Women saw hat-tricks from three players as United beat Hounslow 11-0 at Court Place Farm in the FA Women’s National League tonight.

After suffering a disappointing defeat on the road on Sunday, United Women had no hangover from the result in their second game in 72 hours, with seven second-half goals against their Hounslow counterparts.

United were bright from the off, with three early chances from set pieces. Midfielder Kayleigh Hines swung in the first, which found its way to Lauren Haynes who fired an effort on goal but Hounslow were out quickly to block and halt United’s first attack. Two corners in quick succession then caused all sorts of problems for the visitors and Emily Allen almost profited on the second as she tried to steal the ball ahead of the Hounslow goalkeeper but just couldn’t get there.

United were playing with confidence, keeping possession well under the floodlights. It didn’t take long for the U’s to take the lead either; on 15 Emily Allen played a neat one-two with Georgia Timms and hit the return pass first time, her strike flying into the top corner.

Hounslow did have an opportunity midway through the first half but their forward couldn’t keep her volleyed effort down and it sailed over United’s crossbar.

Oxford came back though and got their second through Cheryl Williams. The forward was alert in the area to capitalise on a defensive mix up and she rifled home to double the U’s advantage.

From there on, United stepped it up a gear and grabbed their third and fourth goals moments before half time. Lauren Haynes scored her first of the evening after her tenacity paid off and she rolled the ball neatly into the corner before Carly Johns rounded the first-half scoring, being well placed in the area to receive Williams’ pass and tap home for her first senior goal.

United carried on where they left off in the second half with a goal within a minute of the restart. After confusion in the area, Timms remained composed to pick the ball up and finish well on the turn for United’s fifth of the evening.

The U’s weren’t stopping there either. Haynes grabbed United’s sixth with a close-range finish before Timms made it seven as she rounded the goalkeeper and placed the ball into the open net.

On came Sophie Baker and Ellie Kirby to assure things across midfield, and it wasn’t long before Oxford had their eighth of the night through Allen again. A good pass set her free into the area and she placed the ball into the bottom right corner.

Timms then grabbed her hat-trick five minutes from time, prodding home from close range, and that was swiftly followed by Haynes' third as she picked the ball up from 20 yards and cannoned in a strike off the bar for United's tenth. United had the final say and with the last kick of the game Allen grabbed her hat-trick with a neat finish to make the final score 11-0 to the U's.
