Oxford United Under-18s drew 2-2 against Wimbledon this weekend to make it three games unbeaten in a row.

Finding themselves two goals to the good at half time, Oxford managed to earn themselves a point in a thrilling comeback with Josh Holton and Mo Missanga getting on the scoresheet to make it 2-2 in the end.

A first start of the season for Callum Plamer-Flynn gave the side a needed boost, especially with Jameson Blackmore being on international duty.

After being on the receiving end of a 3-1 defeat in Wimbledon already this season, United were looking to seek revenge on the Dons; however, things didn’t start as they had hoped.

Wimbledon took an early lead just twelve minutes in with a well-taken cutback and didn’t stop there. The Dons continued to dominate, forcing two strong saves from Will Jackson.

Oxford struggled to get any momentum in the first half and had to soak up the oncoming pressure from the hosts.

Wimbledon got what they deserved, a second goal on the brink of half-time, which was taken excellently by the Dons forward, wrapping the ball into the top corner.

After a disappointing first 45, Oxford came out looking to show some character, and that they did. Josh Holton continued his excellent form, scoring a fine finish to get his third goal in two weeks, and with it got United back into the game.

A first ninety minutes of the season and his first goal of the season, Mo Missanga managed to get Oxford level in the 68th minute after taking the ball off the defender and then curling it past the keeper to make it 2-2.

Both sides came close to a winner, but Wimbledon came the closest. The Dons managed to beat Will Jackson on two occasions; however, they were denied only by two crucial goal-line clearances from Albie Collins.

The centre half showed unbelievable determination to keep the ball out, and with it played a massive role in earning Oxford a point away from home.

The result makes it three games unbeaten for the Under-18s as they take on defending champions Luton Town away from home next weekend.
