Oxford United have confirmed the list of players to be retained and released following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
Przemysław Płacheta, Myles Peart-Harris, Hidde ter Avest, Owen Dale, Will Goodwin, Joshua Johnson, Jacob Knightbridge, Steph Negru, Tom Bradshaw and Stuart Findlay will depart the Club upon expiry of their contracts.
Polish winger Placheta scored six goals in 60 appearances for United after joining in the summer of 2024, playing an important role during the Club’s two seasons in the Championship.
Peart-Harris signed on a short-term deal from Premier League side Brentford in January and went on to make 20 appearances, scoring three goals.
Dutch full-back ter Avest arrived at United in the summer of 2024 and made 36 appearances, scoring once in last season’s victory over Hull City.
Dale joined the Club in January 2024 and played a key role in United’s promotion-winning campaign, featuring in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium. The winger made 30 appearances and scored once for the U’s before spending this season on loan at Plymouth Argyle.
Goodwin spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Colchester United and departs having made 11 appearances and scored one goal following his arrival in January 2024.
Bradshaw spent the second half of this season on loan at Barnsley, making 18 appearances across his 12 months with the Club.
Academy graduate Joshua Johnson made seven senior appearances for United, while Steph Negru featured 21 times following his arrival in 2023.
Findlay’s contract also comes to an end after joining the Club in 2022, with the defender spending the last three seasons on loan in Scotland.

“Joshua Johnson is another example of the pathway from our Academy into the First Team, and we wish him well with his next step. I sincerely hope to see Josh performing well in the Football League soon.
“The recruitment process for the upcoming season has been underway for several months, and we will continue to look at ways to strengthen and improve the squad as we look to respond next season and push for promotion back to the Championship.
