NEW PLAYER'S ENTRANCE
For supporters attending the game, as well as those joining us for fixtures at OX4 throughout the season, we would like to make you aware of a new player’s entrance ahead of kick-off.
Following their arrival approximately 90 minutes before kick-off, players will now enter the stadium via the entrance located next to the Ticket Office. Barriers will be in place on either side of the walkway from the players’ car park.
We kindly ask supporters not to surround the players’ vehicles. Instead, if you wish to welcome the players or ask for photos and autographs, please stand behind the barriers on either side of the walkway.

The 2026/27 season marks Burton Albion's ninth consecutive year in League One and will be aiming for a top half finish for the first time since 2019. In their push to do so, they have made a strong start to the season, sitting in the play-off spots after earning two wins and two draws from their opening five fixtures.
Founded in 1950 and based in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, the club spent many years playing in the lower leagues before achieving promotion to the Football League in 2009. Despite their long ongoing stint in League One, the Brewers reached the Championship for the first time in 2016 after earning automatic promotion from League One.
Managing Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon will be Gary Bowyer, who has led the side since his appointment in December 2024. He has previously managed clubs including Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bradford City, Salford City and Dundee. At Burton, Bowyer quickly made an impact by helping the team avoid relegation from League One during the 2024–25 season. He is known for his energetic management style and for bringing a positive atmosphere to the team.
HOW ARE BOTH CAMPS SHAPING UP?
Both teams have made a very encouraging start to the new season, losing just one of their games played so far. Burton Albion have played a game more than the U's, and so have one more point in the table at this stage, but both will be looking to continue building the early positive momentum.
Not for the first time this season, Oxford United Head Coach Aaron Ramsey was happy to rotate the team last weekend and so far his strategy of setting his team up based on the opposition they are playing is working well.
The additions of Kai Andrews and Luka Lynch late on in the transfer window has helped bring valuable energy to the team, as well as providing much needed extra depth, as the U's wait for the arrivals of Aidomo Emakhu, Jin Woo Jeon, Ruben Roosken and Jamie Cumming from injury.
For the visitors, the opening five games of the campaign have produced their best start to a season in more than a decade. Burton’s summer transfer window was widely regarded as a success, with the club adding a blend of quality, experience and youth to Gary Bowyer’s squad through the likes of Curtis Tilt, Corey Addai and Caylan Vickers.
The Brewers’ 4-1 demolition of AFC Wimbledon has arguably been their standout result so far, while they have also picked up an impressive victory away at Leicester City. More recently, Burton showed their character to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw with Cambridge, scoring a last-minute equaliser to rescue a point.
Bowyer was particularly pleased with his side’s determination to fight their way back into the game, praising their refusal to give up and their willingness to battle until the final whistle. It is a mentality that could prove invaluable for a side with potential ambitions of promotion given their strong start, with resilience and character likely to be just as important as quality over the course of a long season.
WHO COULD PROVE TO BE THE KEY MEN FOR EACH TEAM?
United’s emphatic 4-0 victory away at Leicester City last weekend is a performance that will live long in the memory, with the fans treated to one of the Club’s finest away displays in recent years. But while the result was impressive, so too was the individual brilliance of one player in particular: Mo Missanga.
The 18-year-old academy graduate, who has been with the Club since the age of 12, made his first start in the defeat at Huddersfield. His impressive showing was enough to earn him another place in the starting XI against the Foxes, and he grasped the opportunity with both hands.
Missanga played a key role in United taking the lead, providing the assist for Mark Harris' opening goal before doubling the advantage with a magnificent piece of individual brilliance. It was a moment that showcased the winger’s pace, confidence and attacking flair, and further underlined the excitement surrounding his emergence into the first team.
The young winger has made an electric start to his senior career, and after his memorable display at Leicester, he will be hoping to produce another standout performance when United return home on Saturday.
One of the players tasked with keeping the likes of Missanga, Harris and Luka Lynch quiet will be Burton defender Finn Delap. It’s a name that will be familiar to many football fans, with the 21-year-old the son of former Stoke City midfielder Rory Delap and brother of Nottingham Forest striker Liam.
A product of the Derby County academy, Delap has made an impressive start to the season, finding the net twice while consistently delivering top-class performances at the heart of Burton’s defence. His displays have played a significant role in the Brewers’ strong start to the campaign.
Standing at 6ft 3in, Delap is an imposing presence at both ends of the pitch and is particularly dangerous from set-pieces. He is also not afraid to venture forward when the opportunity arises, making him a genuine goal threat and a player the U’s will need to keep a close eye on.
TEAM NEWS
Aaron Ramsey will be without a few players for this weekend’s fixture. Aidomo Emakhu is expected to remain sidelined until after the upcoming international break, while Jin Woo Jeon and Ruben Roosken are targeting a return to full fitness towards the end of October.
Goalkeeper Jamie Cumming returned to the bench for the victory over Leicester last weekend after recovering from a minor knock, leaving Ramsey with a decision to make over whether to restore him to the starting XI or stick with Simon Eastwood. The experienced goalkeeper has impressed since coming into the side and played his part in keeping United’s recent run going.
Luka Lynch could be in line for his full debut after making an impact from the bench at the King Power Stadium, registering his first goal contribution for the Club in the 4-0 victory. Ramsey will also have to decide whether to retain the same back four or rotate once again, with Peter Kioso and Brodie Spencer among those who impressed against the Foxes.

PREVIOUS MEETING & HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD
It has been a couple of years since the two sides last met prior to United's promotion to the Championship in 2024.
This match up is one that has been successful for the U's in recent years, and the last meeting resulted in a 4-0 away win for Des Buckingham's side in April 2024 thanks to a brace from Mark Harris and a goal apiece for Josh Murphy and James Henry. The victory was one that helped to push the team back into play-off contention towards the end of the season, and of course in the end the U's did secure that promotion via the play-offs.
The last game played between the two sides in OX4 earlier that year was also a thumping victory for Buckingham's men, a 3-0 win courtesy of a Ruben Rodrigues double and Marcus McGuane strike.
