Oxford United will pay tribute to Joey Beauchamp during the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round home tie against Sunderland this Sunday, as we mark four years since his passing.
Widely regarded as one of the Club’s greatest-ever players, Joey represented Oxford United across two spells spanning more than three decades. The former winger made 428 appearances for his boyhood Club, scoring 80 goals.
He remains one of Oxford United’s most loved figures, a player of outstanding talent whose connection with this Club runs deep.
Joey made his name in yellow with moments of brilliance, unforgettable goals, and a style of play that embodied flair, commitment, and passion for the badge. Beyond the pitch, he was also a father, brother, teammate, friend, and someone who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
This commemorative match is an opportunity to reflect on Joey’s contribution to Oxford United and recognise the legacy that continues through the Joey Beauchamp Foundation.
On the 11th minute, in recognition of the number synonymous with Joey, supporters will be invited to join a minute’s applause in his honour.
Ahead of the tie against the Black Cats, a tribute video will be shown on the stadium’s big screen, with exclusive content also available in the matchday programme. Joey’s family will be in attendance, with several initiatives taking place in the lead-up to the match and throughout the afternoon.
Oxford United in the Community are also running a prize draw, giving fans the chance to win a range of prizes, with 100% of profits donated directly to the Joey Beauchamp Foundation.
The prize draw will remain open until Monday 16 February at 10:00am, with three entry options available: £5 for one entry, £10 for three entries, or £15 for five entries.
