Oxford United are delighted to announce goalkeeper Jamie Cumming has signed a new contract to extend his stay at the Club.
The 25-year-old joined United, initially on loan, in January 2024, before signing on a permanent basis from Chelsea last summer.
Over 68 games, Cumming has kept 21 clean sheets and has been one of United’s best performers, producing key saves to help the Club earn promotion, and then remain in the Championship last season.
Speaking as he signed his new deal, Cumming said: “The 18 months I have had at Oxford United have been the most enjoyable and successful of my career.
“There have been so many high moments and I want to continue to play my part in taking the Club forward.
“I have developed immensely since joining and I know that by extending my deal, I will only improve further.
“We have a brilliant goalkeeping department at the Club headed up by Lewis Price, and I’d like to say a massive thank you to them. Each day, the standard in our group is at such a level, it pushes you to be a better version of yourself as a goalkeeper and a person.
“The supporters have also been so encouraging. They have made me feel at home since day one and I want to ensure I give everything back to help the Club this season and beyond.”
Cumming was one of the standout goalkeepers in the Championship last season, with the third best record for expected goals prevented in the league.
Saving two penalties last season, Cumming also ranked in the top five in the division for pass completion rate, showcasing his ability as one of the most promising all-round English goalkeepers.
Ed Waldron, Head of Football Operations, said: “Watching Jamie develop into the keeper he is today has been brilliant to see.
“Signing a young goalkeeper on loan, it’s difficult to know with certainty how it will play out, but after taking a few months to bed in, Jamie has been exceptional.
“He is showing himself as a great shot stopper and someone who is fantastic with the ball at his feet. Integral to our defence and to our build-up play, he has become one of the best in the division and we are thrilled to have him at the Club.”
