Chris Wilder on Wycombe
A 3-1 win at Wycombe Wanderers delighted Manager Chris Wilder on Saturday as his side chalked up their second away win of the season. The U’s were full value for their win and Chris told Yellow Player after the game that it was the perfect remedy after losing at Rochdale in midweek.
“There was a bit of pressure on us from not getting a result on Tuesday. There was a fantastic away support, and I think we produced for them today. Having walked to the game I think there were a few tired guys among them! I should imagine the two Wycombe centre halves were tired by the end as well. I thought our front two were excellent. I can be picky and say they could have been a bit better at times, but I thought it was a very good overall performance.”
Tom Craddock’s spectacular second goal early in the second half looked to be setting United on their way to a comfortable win, but a quick reply from the home side was the one blot on the performance for the Manager:
“I was a bit disappointed with their goal. Having just gone 2-0 up we should have been a bit more professional and not given them a lifeline, but credit to Wycombe who showed a bit of spirit, which I always imagined they would do with the Manager.”
The one word on everyone’s lips afterwards was that elusive final ingredient this season; consistency…
“You say it, I say it, the supporters say it” Chris admitted. “ We have good players, they have a desire about them, and we just need to show a little bit of consistency. If they do that then we will start picking up wins and I am certain that there is a lot more to come from us.”
