Oxford United Football Club are looking for an ambitious, proactive Commercial Manager to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in managing the sales and administration of seasonal and matchday hospitality, sponsorships, advertising and events.

The Commercial Manager will support the Head of Revenue in driving a high-performing sales culture, offering the necessary support and coaching to the Commercial Executive and Commercial Admin Executive. They will predominantly be based at the Club’s Training Centre, home to the Men’s First Team, Women’s Team, and Academy, working collaboratively with the wider commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and meet the Club's commercial objectives
  • Clearly define target markets and measurable business development activities to increase sales, build and enhance long-term client relationships, attract new customers and ensure high levels of repeat business are achieved
  • Develop compelling proposals tailored to meet the specific needs and objectives of potential clients
  • Build and nurture long-term partnerships with corporate clients, developing relationships with accounts to upsell activity across the Club’s commercial portfolio
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of matchday hospitality, ensuring a premium experience for guests. Coordinate with marketing, catering, security, and operations teams to deliver seamless service
  • Design and implement an annual events programme that aligns with the Club’s brand and objectives
  • Develop and manage budgets for hospitality, events and commercial activities which demonstrate effective management of costs, margins and profit
  • Line manage and provide clear direction, performance management, coaching, and professional development to drive individual and team targets
  • Provide regular updates and reports on new business sales performance, revenue projections and progress against targets
  • Research and remain up to date on industry trends, market conditions and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions and identify new business opportunities
  • Meet and exceed targets as set by the Head of Revenue
  • Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities which your line manager or another senior manager at the Club asks you to perform

Candidate Profile

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Two to three years of sales experience with a proven track record of target achievement
  • Results-driven with the ability to inspire others to meet or exceed sales targets
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and rapport-building skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced business with multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication, administration and reporting skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into insights and action
  • Previous experience of working within sport preferred

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be proactive and have an outgoing personality
  • Work as part of a team
  • Committed to attending every home game
  • Committed to working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required
  • Committed to safe working practice and to undertaking training appropriate for the role
  • Willing to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

Qualifications / Skill Requirements

Essential:

  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, process-driven, with good attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Enthusiastic individual with a passion for sports business
  • Competent in Microsoft Office
  • Keen interest in sponsorship, hospitality, events, and sales
