Women get ready to face Chelsea PGA

Oxford United Women

Oxford United Women are back in cup action on Sunday, welcoming Chelsea Academy to the MGroup Stadium for a 12 noon kick off in the WNL Cup.

Having won the group stage with a 100 per cent record, United now enter the knock-out stage of the competition, with Chelsea Academy their first-round opponents.

Chelsea won two and lost one of their group-stage games, starting with a 3-2 victory at AFC Wimbledon, with Keira Johnson grabbing a brace. They followed this with a 2-1 defeat at Actonians before demolishing Maidenhead United 7-1 at York Road.

United will know from their 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur PGA in the group stage that  these games are not formalities and that the side will have to play with the same belief and spirit that saw them beat Billericay Town 10-0 in the league last Sunday.

This is the first of two successive cup games, with Oxford travelling to Hashtag United next Sunday in the Women’s FA Cup, before they return to league actions with two big games, away to second-placed AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday 29 October and then at home to league leaders Watford on Sunday 2 November.

Tickets for the Chelsea game cost £8 for adults, £4 for men’s season ticket holders, over 65s, Blue Light card holders and Under 18s, £3 for 13-17 year-olds, £2 for 8-12 year-olds. Children under 7 are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased in advance HERE or on the day at the turnstiles.

You can also take advantage of the MGroup Stadium’s hospitality package which costs £29 and includes food from Burnout BBQ and a drink on arrival, sweet treats and a hot drink at half time and the opportunity to join us pitchside for the Player of the Match presentation. Hospitality tickets are available HERE.
