Under-21s Aim For Undefeated League Campaign

Oxford United Under-21s host Mansfield Town tomorrow with the chance to complete an undefeated league campaign.

The Under-21s have had a fantastic start to competitive football, with this season being the first time they’ve entered into a league. The side have gone undefeated up to now, winning five out of their seven games.

Pablo Haysham’s side sit at the top of the table, with three points tomorrow giving them a great chance of winning the league. However, due to the complicated schedule of the competition, United will have to wait to find out if they will become league champions.

Challenging for the title is tomorrow’s opposition, Mansfield Town. The Stags have only lost one game in the league but have played two less games than United. They will need to avoid defeat tomorrow for it to still be mathematically possible to reach Oxford in the table.

The other team in contention are Wrexham - a side who have only played four games so far due to postponements. They sit on eight points (two wins, two draws), and if they were to win their remaining four games, they could match United’s points tally. The two sides would then have to be separated by goal difference.

Whilst winning the league is still complicated, United have a great chance of finishing the competition undefeated and giving themselves a strong chance of taking the title.

Kick off is at 2:00pm at the Oxford United Training Centre on Tuesday 7 April.
