Oxford United would like to remind our supporters of the importance of behaving responsibly when travelling to games both at home and away.
Already, a small number of incidents have been reported this season, some of which include anti-social behaviour on trains, the use of pyrotechnics, abuse to staff, and isolated cases of abuse or violent behaviour.
While we would like to stress that cases are in the few, we need to make it clear that any behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated, and the actions of a few can risk the reputation for the majority.
We work closely with Thames Valley Police, the EFL, and supporter groups to ensure that matches are safe and enjoyable occasions for everyone. Anyone found to be involved in anti-social behaviour faces sanctions, which can include bans from attending fixtures, police investigation, and further legal consequences.
On Tuesday, one person was in court and subsequently received a three-year football banning order for unacceptable behaviours towards staff last season. Actions are being taken.
With Sunday’s trip to Bristol City coming up, we want to remind supporters that we are all ambassadors for Oxford United. Please continue to back the team in the positive manner you are known for and help create an atmosphere that inspires the players on the pitch and represents our club with pride.
Together, let’s make the away day experience one to enjoy for all the right reasons.
