Oxford United Women’s first home game of the 2025/26 season takes place this Sunday 24 August against AFC Wimbledon at the MGroup Stadium (2.00pm kick off).
United are in good form going into the game, with a 100 per cent record so far. They beat Gwalia United 1-0 in Wales on the opening day of the season, and on Wednesday they travelled to Bedford Town’s Eyrie Stadium where they beat Milton Keynes Dons Women 5-0 in the first group stage game of the WFA National League Cup.
Wimbledon have not had the start to the new campaign that they would have hoped for. Last Sunday they were beaten 2-1 at home by Real Bedford in the Southern Premier Division, while in midweek cup action they again lost at home, going down 3-2 against Chelsea Academy.
So, this is an important game for both clubs. United will want to maintain their winning start and solidify their credentials as promotion candidates, while Wimbledon will want to get their first points on the board and shake off that losing mentality.
United manager Sam Rose said: “Everyone’s had minutes, everybody’s contributed, and we’re looking forward to playing on Sunday now.
“We’re back at home, a good surface and a big pitch – we know it suits us, so we’re looking forward to it, we’ll be confident, and ready to put on a performance.”
Come along and support the women as they look to make it the perfect start to the season.
