Jin Woo Jeon Signs For Oxford United

Jin Woo Jeon

Oxford United are delighted to announce the signing of South Korean international Jin Woo Jeon on a permanent deal from K-League champions Jeonbuk Hyundai, subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old winger arrives in outstanding form, having played a key role in Jeonbuk’s League and Cup double, scoring 20 goals and registering six assists across all competitions in 2025.

Jin Woo has established himself as one of the most exciting wide players in Asian football. His performances earned him a place in the K-League Team of the Year in 2025, adding to earlier recognition as the Korean FA Young Player of the Year in 2018 during his time with Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

At international level, Jin Woo made his senior debut for South Korea in World Cup Qualifying in June 2025 and, to date, has one goal in two appearances.

Speaking after completing his move, Jin Woo said: “I’m incredibly happy to be here. Playing in England has always been a dream of mine, and to achieve that with a Club like Oxford United is very special.

“When Oxford United showed interest, I studied the Club carefully. I felt a real connection straight away and believed I could make a difference here, so the decision was easy.

“I want to be a player who brings energy, intensity, and excitement. I enjoy taking defenders on, playing aggressively, and creating problems for the opposition. Above all, I want the fans to enjoy watching me play.

“I know this Club has a proud history and passionate supporters. I will work hard every day to repay the trust put in me and help push the team forward.”

Head Coach Matt Bloomfield added: “Jin Woo is a player we are absolutely thrilled to bring to Oxford United. He has real quality at the top end of the pitch and the ability to decide games.

“His speed, directness, and mentality stood out immediately, and we believe he can have a significant impact both this season and in the long term. He gives us something different, and we’re excited to start working with him.

“Jin Woo’s season ended in early December, so he may need some time to adapt, which we hope can happen quickly.”

Head of Football Operations Ed Waldron said: “This is an important signing for the Football Club and a real statement of intent. Jin Woo has been identified and monitored extensively, and the work done by the recruitment team to bring this together has been outstanding.

“His goalscoring record, pace, and technical ability speak for themselves but, just as importantly, he has the mentality we want in this group.

“We believe this signing significantly strengthens the squad and underlines our ambition to give Matt and the players every opportunity to succeed.”
