Important Changes to Covid Protocols

Certification now required when attending home matches

10 January 2022

Following last month’s Government announcement regarding ‘COVID-19 Autumn and Winter Plan B’, Oxford United will now be implementing a further protocol for supporters attending home fixtures.

With crowds at forthcoming matches at the Kassam Stadium expected to exceed the threshold of 10,000, starting against Sheffield Wednesday in our next home game, all attendees aged 18 and over will need to provide one of the following certifications to gain access to the ground:

  • A valid NHS COVID Pass
  • A negative COVID-19 test result (SMS or email, which has been registered with the NHS) within 48 hours of kick off

If you are unable to present a valid NHS COVID Pass or proof of a negative COVID-19 test when asked to do so, entry to the stadium will be declined in line with legal requirements, unless you are exempt.

Ahead of travelling to the Kassam Stadium, supporters should follow the steps below:

  • Refer to OUFC.co.uk for the latest COVID-19 guidance in advance of matchday. Latest news will also be emailed to all supporters who are opted-in and hold a Season or Match Ticket ahead of the match

  • Ensure you have a valid form of COVID certification in your possession before you travel to the stadium.

Covid-19 Pass

For fans who are fully vaccinated, the best form of certification is by obtaining a COVID pass. You can obtain your COVID digital pass by using the NHS App, or adding it to your smartphone wallet or camera roll in case there is no signal.

Supporters who do not own a smart phone can also bring a valid NHS COVID Pass letter. Further information on how to obtain one can be found by clicking here.

Please ensure your passes are easily accessible to ensure efficiency and speed of access when approaching the turnstiles.

Information on how to obtain your pass can be found in this video:

Negative Lateral Flow

A negative Lateral Flow test result will be permissible should you be unable to provide a COVID pass.

Supporters who are not yet double vaccinated will need to take a lateral flow test within 48 hours of attending the match.

If the test returns a positive result, then you must NOT attend the fixture and follow the correct procedures as advised by the NHS. Lateral flow sticks will not be accepted, and results must be recorded via the NHS.

Other information

Even if double-vaccinated, you must not attend if you, or anybody attending with you, is suffering from COVID-19 symptoms, feels unwell, or is required to self-isolate.

All supporters aged 11 and over will be required to wear a face covering when located in indoor areas, other than when eating or drinking, or where exempt.

Face coverings are advised though not required to be worn by supporters when they are in their allocated seats in the stadium bowl.

If you begin to feel unwell at the game please make yourself known to the nearest steward

Oxford United would like to thank supporters for their patience and understanding as the club navigates its way through the new policy changes.
