Oxford United welcome AFC Wimbledon to the Kassam Stadium this evening in Sky Bet League 1 (7.45pm)

A number of games elsewhere have been postponed due to covid numbers but tonight's game is due to go ahead and United will welcome back a number of players who were ruled out of their last game against Wigan.

Herbie Kane, Cameron Brannagan, Luke McNally and Sam Winnall were all unavailable after testing positive but have completed their 'return to play' protocols and should be available, as will Jordan Thorniley after serving a one game suspension.

However, James Henry misses the game with a calf injury suffered in the warm up against Wigan. Henry is likely to miss another three weeks.

THE OPPOSITION
Striker Ollie Palmer returns after injury but Ayoub Assal tested positive and misses out while Dan Csoka faces a late fitness test.

Assistant Manager Rob Tuvey believes that flexibility is the key for the Dons.

“What we have worked on is our formation and flexibility. We’ve shown that throughout the season that we can play different shapes at times and that within games we can change shape and really cause teams problems. It’s something we’ve worked hard on going into Oxford. We’ll make sure that whatever formation we go with, we’re well prepared.”

“I thought the last game (against Oxford) was an absolutely fantastic spectacle for League One,” he said. “Anyone in the stadium that day wouldn’t have thought they were watching a game at that level. The tempo and the pace of the game was a credit to both sides.

“Every time we come up against Oxford, we know that they are a good footballing side. We know the threats that they pose, but the intensity that we’ve got in our play we feel that we can really cause them problems.”
