11 November 2020

Oxford United’s under 18s get a chance to shine tonight when they take on AFC Wimbledon in the first round of the FA Youth Cup.

The game, at Thame United’s ASM Stadium, kicks off at 7pm and will once again put the focus on the Academy who had a good night last night with former scholars Leon Chambers-Parillon, Michael Elechi, Nico Jones, Sam Long and Jack Stevens all playing for the first team at Walsall.

Goalkeeper Eddie Brearey and midfielder Josh Anifowose were on the bench for that game just weeks after joining the U’s as scholars and they will be part of a squad that also welcomes Tyler Goodrham back- another youngster who played for the first team last season.

With lockdown ending a number of loans second year scholars Sam Johnson and Callum Crook have returned after spells at Kidlington while under 16s Gatlin O’Donkor and Enrique Tiamuna are among the younger players likely to be involved

The youth team have been in fine form in the Youth Alliance South West Division and take on a Dons side in the South East Division, another club with a great record of bringing players through to the first team.
