Oxford United Women will face neighbours Oxford City this Sunday (13:30 KO) at Court Place Farm in a bid to reach the County Cup final.

UNited have a full squad to choose from with manager Liam Gilbert saying:
“The girls have just been chomping at the bit to play football, and so far we’ve used the County Cup as an opportunity to give the younger players in the squad the chance to prove themselves. But all the girls need some minutes in their legs, especially going to Gillingham the week after.”
“Everyone likes the title and prestige of being crowned county champions, so we’ll do what we need to do to try and get through to the next round.”
“As always, we’d love to see as many people there as possible so everyone can see what the girls are capable of. We play some fantastic football, so those who come will be entertained.”

United have been made to wait for their return to Court Place Farm, thanks to Storm Ciara causing the postponement of last weekend’s fixture. Their last home game, all the way back in mid-December, saw Plymouth Argyle fall to a last-minute Kayleigh Hines winner. Since then, Oxford have only played two more games, away to Cardiff and Keynsham, recording a narrow 1-0 loss and impressive 6-1 win respectively.

City certainly provide value for money for the neutral fan, with their last five games containing a whopping 22 goals. The Hoops haven’t had a home game for over a month, a parallel to United’s recent fixture schedule. In their last home fixture City beat Ascot United 3-0, although that was soon followed by two away losses. Their most recent fixture saw City overcome Newbury 4-1. The Hoops currently sit in fourth place in their league, while they also provided the opposition to United in last year’s County Cup final.
