Head Coach Karl Robinson heaped praise on his backroom team after United went through in a penalty shoot-out at Cheltenham in the Checkatrade Trophy last night.
Keeper Simon Eastwood made two great saves in the shoot-out and like his Manager, was quick to praise those around him:
“Obviously we do a lot of work on that sort of thing” Eastwood said afterwards “Wayne Brown is a fantastic coach and then we have the video analysis from Dan Bond and Ed Waldron. They advise me on which way to go for the penalties and their hard work paid off for us tonight.”
Karl joined in the praise:
“Browny is a top coach and the partnership he has with Easty is second to none. But you look around the training ground and everyone works so hard. Bondy and Ed did great for us tonight but are also key in what we do ahead of every game. Chris Short has come in and settled straight in and is doing an unbelievable job. and I also want to mention Amy Cranston, who has taken over the physio side of things this season and been brilliant. We have had so many injuries, impacts ones we could do nothing about, so she has been so busy and I think she has done a remarkable job and deserves massive credit.
“The game itself wasn’t easy tonight but we found a way to win it and get ourselves through to the next round.
"To have over 300 away fans there as well was great and we got a couple of the lads to hand their shirts to young fans after: we have made £40,000 from going through so a couple of shirts won’t hurt and those kids will go in to school tomorrow tired but happy to have been at the football and to have a shirt from one of the players.”
The draw for the next round takes place on Sky Sports at 7pm on Thursday.
