Six More New Faces For Oxford United Women

Women's team build towards new season

13 August 2018

Oxford United Women are building nicely towards their new season with six more new faces signing for Liam Gilbert’s side

Lorna Stanley, Paris Sercombe, Kerry Walklett, Steph Bent, Alice Smith and Maddie Robertson have all joined the U’s for their new season in the National League and we asked Liam to talk us through the new faces:

Lorna Stanley
Lorna is a player who has come through the club’s RTC system and is a player I have spent a lot of time working with. Lorna is someone who is focused, driven and looking to make her mark on the squad this season.

Paris Sercombe
Paris is another player I know really well and have spent a lot of time working with. She is a good shot stopper and has a good range of distribution. Paris joins two very talented keepers and it will be great competition for them every training session with our new goalkeeper coach

Kerry Walklett
Kerry is another player who has rejoined Oxford United. She is a very technically able player who is ready to compete for a starting place with a very strong midfield unit for the season.

Steph Bent
Steph has been a breath of fresh air. She has a positive attitude and is always willing to learn. Steph joins us from West Ham where she was their development Player of the Year last season.

Alice Smith
Alice will be a good addition to the squad. She has a lot of experience playing in this division which will help some of the younger players. In the short time that I have worked with Alice she takes on points really quickly and is looking to better herself as a footballer this season.

Maddie Robertson
Maddie is another player who has come through the club’s RTC system. She is a dynamic player who can play in a variety of positions and a player I know well from working with her last season in the development team. Maddie has a lot of potential and she is already looking to challenge for a starting position.
