United visit officer training camp for pre-season test

Oxford United were very privileged to be guests at Sandhurst today.

The players plus Michael Appleton and his backroom staff were invited to the historic military training base where thousands of officers have been put through their paces for hundreds of years.

The players were given a fantastic tour of the buildings and whole base and joined officers for lunch but there was also plenty of hard work.

There were team building exercises including a twenty metre high ‘Leap of Faith’, there was a gruelling course with the squad carrying logs as well as a testing swimming exercise in full kit.

Head Coach Michael Appleton said:

“It was an excellent day and we thank all the officers and staff at Sandhurst for showing us around and letting us have an insight into the incredible work that goes on here.

"The players had just a taste of the fitness work that goes on every day, but it was also a chance to build a bit of a bond in the squad and get away from the daily routine.”
