WSL 2 Season kicks off

Oxford United Women kick off their brand new WSL2 season this evening as they welcome Watford to Abingdon United’s Northcourt Road Stadium (7.45pm)

Skipper Sahara Osborne-Ricketts is confident her team can build upon last season’s victory away at Watford and start their new campaign with that all-important win.

“The way we performed at the end of last season was definitely encouraging, and while it took us a while to find our feet in this league, as a club we managed it,” she said.

“So hopefully off the back of that we can start off on a bit of a high at Watford, who we've beaten before, and start off with a win.

“We conceded far more goals then we wanted to last season, so we've been working hard on our defence and then hopefully some more goals will come after that.

“Everyone is now excited about the first game with Watford. They may well have a new squad, but we know we have got one over on them before and hopefully we can do the same again.

“We have most of the same players from last season which is good because we all know how each other play and what we're all about.”

Tonight’s game kicks off at 7.45pm at Northcourt Road and admission is just £5 adults and £2 for under 16s and over 65s.
