Max back as U's continue pre-season
Oxford United will take on one of the biggest names in Europe when they face a Benfica side later today in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly.
The U’s take on the Portuguese champions at St George’s Park this evening with their young guns looking to impress against what is essentially a Benfica Development side.
Max Crocombe gets his first game of pre-season after returning from New Zealand duty and he is joined in the squad by the players who didn’t feature at Woking last night: Patrick Hoban, James Roberts, Aidan Hawtin, Chey Dunkley, Sam Long, Josh Ashby, Danny Rose, Josh Ruffels and Callum O’Dowda.
Sam Humphreys and AJ George both made good impressions as late subs in last night’s game and will feature again, with Freddie Grant and Robbie Cundy also in the squad. Wayne Brown will act as goalkeeping cover for the second game in a row.
The game is not open to the public but we will have a report right here as soon as possible after the final whistle.
