#30United Challenge for Caroline on Boxing Day

21 December 2015

New Community Trust initiative gets off to a singing start

2016 marks  the 30th anniversary of Oxford United winning the Milk Cup and achieving their dreams against the odds. To mark the anniversary 30 people will be supported to face their fears and achieve their dreams as part of Oxford United Community Trust’s fundraising campaign #30United.

To kick start these challenges and inspire others to take part, Caroline Robbins, the Community Trust Director is taking on her own challenge; to sing again. And on Boxing Day at half time, she is facing that fear when the U’s welcome Exeter City to the Kassam Stadium.

By facing this fear, Caroline hopes to raise money for the Trust and is asking fans and businesses to sponsor her. All the money raised will go to the Trust to help deliver their new strategy ‘Dreaming Together, Achieving Together’. This strategy builds on the success of previous work done by the Community Trust and represents a change in emphasis as well as a chance to embrace the ambitions and passion of fans, their families and their communities.

On Boxing Day  Caroline will be joined by four others also facing their fear of singing. All have amazing voices that deserve to be heard but Amber Hearne, Bethany Lovegrove and Oxi Valente, all students at The Oxford Academy and Daniel Robinson, a teacher at The Oxford Academy have also fought stage fright but together, all five will stand in front of one of the biggest crowds of the season  and sing for fans’ support.

Caroline, who hasn’t sung in front of others for nearly 10 years said,

“The whole purpose of The Trust is to empower and inspire our fans, their families and people in the wider Oxfordshire community to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams. #30United is a great way to start the process. We want to make people’s lives better across the county, and there are some people that desperately need help. By facing my own fear, taking something on that makes me feel a little sick just to think about, I’m hoping to inspire others and prove that if we aim high and work together, we can achieve our dreams.”
