TEAM NEWS
United welcome Patrick Hoban back into the squad as they head for Tranmere Rovers on Saturday. The Irish striker has recovered from a dead leg and competes with Danny Hylton, James Robers and Kyle Vassell for the two striker roles. There is competition for the wide places as well, with Alex MacDonald coming on as a sub on Tuesday night to score the equaliser against Northampton. MacDonald, Kemar Roofe and Callum O'Dowda plus the versatile Danny Rose vie for those positions.

Youngster Aidan Hawtin has travelled with the squad and could make a first appearance on the bench, where Josh Ashby and Sam Humphreys are also likely to feature. George Baldock and Andy Whing are both rated 50/50 after picking up knocks in last weekend's draw at Wimbledon.

See Michael Appleton give his thoughts ahead of the game in Yellow Player, where the Preview Show features Sam Long and Patrick Hoban. We will also have full commentary on the whole game.

THE OPPOSITION
Nine defeats in 12 games have left Rovers bottom of the table and desperate to preserve their league status. With tricky games away at Plymouth and home to Bury still to come, boss Micky Adams is calling on his players to stay strong on Saturday

“There’s no doubt we need strong characters amongst the players now," he said. "We’ve got to keep two kinds of discipline against Oxford. One, in the way we play and keep our shape, try to limit Oxford to as few chances as we can. Two, we don’t get carried away with the emotions of the game.

“If we’re going to win the game we need 11 players on the pitch. We need to do the right things at the right time. Oxford is all we are focused on at the moment, not the other two matches that follow it.

“We are trying to make sure we don’t create a crisis of confidence in their own minds.”
