Sunday afternoon football for the U's
Oxford United Women are at home this Sunday as they welcome Aston Villa Ladies to Northcourt Road, home of Abingdon United (kick-off 2pm) in the WSL2Les Taylor's side are, like Villa, on three points from three games
"The league table doesn’t mean too much at this early stage but it would still be great to get another win under our belts” Les told us. “One of the pleasing things about last season was the way we learned quickly and kept improving so it is important that we do that again having suffered two defeats in a row. Training has gone well, everyone is still very together as a group and Sunday is a game we are all looking forward to.
“It was good to have Laura NIcholl and Ella Franklin-Fraiture available again last weekend after injury, and Lauren Allison came into the side and looked very lively as ever. Hopefully Gemma Simmonds is available again after injury and we can have the competition for places that you always need if you are going to be successful.”
Admission is just £5 for adults and £2 for under-16s and over-65s. Facilities there are excellent, with a fine supporters bar, an excellent catering outlet and picnic tables with a view of the pitch. Fine weather is forecast, so come along on Sunday afternoon and cheer on the women to three points.
