Wright Remains a Doubt for Cambridge Test

Early team news as The U's travel to the Abbey Stadium

United look set to be without skipper Jake Wright once again as they travel to Cambridge United on Saturday.

The United captain has been undergoing treatment this week after pulling out of training last Thursday with a knee problem that subsequently ruled him out of the win over Newport on Saturday.

“It looks like he will be missing again” Head Coach Michael Appleton confirmed to Yellow Player this morning. It’s something to do with his hamstring and it affects the medial ligament and from previous experience that can be a bit tender and take a little while to settle down so I think he will be very doubtful for Saturday.

“Michael Raynes came in last week and I thought did an excellent job alongside Johnny Mullins. It’s a position where we have healthy competition. Don’t forget that Michael started the season and was a little unlucky to get injured and not be in the side in the first place.”

United will have to reshuffle further forward with Tyrone Barnett ruled out for one game after a second yellow against Newport.

“I feel a bit for Tyrone because I thought the decision was very harsh” Michael said. “He should have maybe had a couple more goals for us but I think he does a lot of good things leading the line. We have a few options we have been looking at and we know we have players ready to come into the side and seize their opportunities , just like Michael Raynes and Ryan Clarke did last week.”
