Reaction as Oxford United draw 1-1 at Morecambe in Sky Bet League 2

Morecambe Verdict

United were held 1-1 at Morecambe on Saturday. Leading through a well-taken David Connolly strike United were pegged back in injury time by a Robbie Threlfall equaliser  Here's the reaction and verdict

Mickey Lewis

“I'm furious to be honest. We got ourselves into a winning position but couldn't hold on. We didn't keep hold of the ball and see the game through. I made my feelings known to the players after the game and they were gutted not to have got all three points.

"On the plus side Sam Long came in and did really well on his debut but we should have made sure it was a winning one."

The Opposition View

Morecambe Boss Jim Bentley

"I’m a big believer in the harder you work, the luckier you get and to be fair the lads really worked hard today and kept plugging away and got a deserved point. It wasn’t going to be pretty with the pitch but both sets of players went at it and after being disappointed to come in behind at half time we did well in the second half.

“The lads who came off the bench affected the game today which is what we expect of them. It’s not about the 11 it’s about the 18.

“We caused problems and we got what we deserved in the end. It’s good to get onto 40 points because 30 to 40 has been an absolute nightmare for us.”
