Burns Gets Set for Bury

Wes Burns in contention for first time as United welcome Bury to the Kassam Stadium

Wes Burns stands by for a first appearance for Oxford United as the U’s welcome Bury to the Kassam Stadium in Sky Bet League 2 on Saturday.

The 20-year-old Welsh under-21 international has had to be patient, with a slight ankle injury ruling him out against Cheltenham before an FA Cup tie against Tranmere that he was ineligible for.

“It has been a bit frustrating but I’m hoping to be involved against Bury,” he told us. “I’m trying to work my way into the team but I know it’s going to be difficult because they’ve been playing well recently. Hopefully I’ll get my first chance on Saturday to show everyone what I can do.”

John Campbell and Chey Dunkley, both scorers in a 3-0 friendly win over Aston Villa yesterday,  were also cup-tied last weekend but are likely to return to the squad, while striker Will Hoskins is now back in full training and set for a Development Squad game next week as he completes his recovery.

Don’t forget that season ticket holders can bring a friend for FREE on Saturday.

All you have to do is present Voucher F to the ticket office or call 01865 337533 to book the free ticket for a friend, colleague or family member.

It’s the last home game before Christmas, so book your seats and get behind the U’s.
