Under 18s win again
United’s under 18s matched their senior counterparts by moving to the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Hereford United thanks to goals from James Roberts and Sam Humphreys.
Coach Chris Allen was pleased with another win:
“It was a very competitive game and although we had a lot of possession we just couldn’t find the right final pass or cross. It was good up until the final third but the shots didn’t get away and the message at half time was just to keep doing what you are doing but try and add a bit if quality to that final pass.
In the second half I think they ran out of energy a bit but we kept going because the fitness levels are really good. We found that quality and scored two really good goals. Freddy Grant did some good work down the left hand side and from a really god cross James Roberts headed powerfully down, a good striker’s goal and 1-0 to us.
Then Sam Humphreys cut in from the left and lined up a shot, usually those ones hit the trees and I was waiting for it to do so but it flew into the top corner. Sam has been doing some really good things recently going forward and that was an excellent goal.
It was a good team performance and puts us top of the table n goal difference going into this week’s game with Bournemouth. We have come back strong after a slow start to the season. Over all it has been good and going top on the same day as the first team was great for everyone.”
