Newport Preview

31 December 2013

We look ahead to New Year's Day with a full guide

We look ahead to tomorrow’s trip to Newport County.

At the time of writing Newport have hired in a 'super blotter' machine to try and remove the surface water after heavy rain in the last few days. They are working around the clock to try and get the game on. Fans are advised to follow @OUFClive or subscribe to the official text service to get the latest news as soon as we have it.

Dave Kitson will again miss out through suspension and Asa Hall is a doubt due to illness. The on-loan Shrewsbury midfielder is rated 50/50 after coming down with a virus, with Scott Davies standing by after Josh Ruffels limped off in the game against Scunthorpe.

Chris Wilder gives a very honest appraisal of the two Christmas games in Yellow Player right now where you can also see the views of captain Jake Wright in this week’s Preview Show. View it in Yellow Player now.

Newport are in the last play-off spot right now, just a point behind United. Keeper Lenny Pidgeley has been cleared to play after fracturing his thumb in Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Burton Albion. Newport's other keeper Jamie Stephens is injured and it was feared defender Andy Sandell might have to play in goal but Pidgeley is set to continue.

Former United players Adam Chapman and Harry Worley are both likely to feature
