Accrington Preview

30 November 2012

We look forward to tomorrow's FA Cup game at The Crown Ground

We look ahead to tomorrow's FA Cup with Budweiser second round tie at Accrington Stanley.

Team News

United hope to have full-backs Damian Batt and Liam Davis back in the squad for tomorrow's game at Accrington.

Batt hasn't played since suffering a groin strain against Gillingham almost two months ago,  while Davis has been rested with a tight hamstring received against Torquay three weeks ago.

Aside from long-term injury victims Michael Duberry, Tom Craddock and Deane Smalley Oxford should have a full squad available.

The Opposition

Accrington manager Leam Richardson remains unconcerned about Stanley's home form despite their 2-1 defeat by Rotherham on Tuesday.  "It doesn't worry me," he said. Apart from Tuesday night, I think we've applied ourselves very well and just been unlucky with our results."

He continued: "You must put pressure on yourself to win your home games and get results away from home. if you put those two together, you'll be consistent and you'll get to where you want to be."

Accrington defender Dean Winnard said of tomorrow's game:  “Saturday is a massive game for the players, the fans and the club. Everyone knows we’re not the richest of clubs and what it would do for us if we could get in the hat for the next round.

“Oxford embarrassed us last time so hopefully we can try to do the same to them and get our own back. We turned up that day and we were rubbish and they put five past us.

“But hopefully we will flip that on the head.”

Midfielder Rob Atkinson has been recalled from his loan spell by Fleetwood Town.

Other Information

The FA Cup third round draw takes place live on ITV1 at 2.40pm. The winner of tomorrow's tie (or both teams if the game is drawn) will be ball number 58.

Should the game end all-square the replay will take place at the Kassam Stadium on Wednesday 12th December, kick-off 7.45pm.
