Contract Extensions for OUWFC

Leah Burridge, Shelly Provan and Kate Wiseman commit to the U’s

6 February 2024

Oxford United Women are delighted to announce that three players have signed contract extensions until the end of the 2025 season.

Club Captain Leah Burridge, experienced full-back Shelly Provan and energetic midfielder Kate Wiseman have all penned a new deal with the club.

Burridge told OUFC.co.uk

“It’s really exciting especially with the players that we’ve got coming in. I’m looking forward to the end of this campaign and ahead to next season and it's an exciting opportunity to be a part of that.

We've had great last six or seven games, picked up brilliant wins, and played well as a team. Performances have been spot on so now we can really push on now and go and aim for what we want to go and get.”

Provan, a veteran defender who will stay on for a third season with the U’s, told us

“It's really exciting to be a part of the club at the moment. It's been so positive since Sam Rose has come in and everything that he's trying to put in place to push us forward professionally and the support we're gaining from the club as a whole has been a huge part of my reason to want to stay on.

“I think the only way is up and it's exciting to be a part of that.

Wiseman, who joined the U’s after playing in the United States, said

“Yes, it's incredible, the club’s really developing. I think it's really starting to show the personality and the character of the players and how the team's building and obviously it's showing all togetherness as well.

“With the momentum we've got at the moment and coming off the few wins that we've had this side of Christmas, I think it just shows what we can bring and what we can do and I’m really happy to be part of it.

Manager Sam Rose said

“We’re pleased to have agreed contract extensions with Leah, Kate and Shelly. Consolidating the playing group ahead of next season is an ongoing priority for us, and so retaining their services for another year is another positive step in the right direction for the Club.

“Although different players in their own right and at different stages of their career and development, Leah, Kate and Shelly have  shown their importance to the team, both on and off the pitch, week in week out. And, them showing their commitment to the Club ahead of next season, along with Zoe, I think is testament to what we are creating here.

Catch Leah, Shelly, Kate and the rest of the squad in a top-of-the-table clash this Sunday 11th of February, as they host Portsmouth Women at Court Place Farm.
