Women Head To Crawley

Oxford United Women make the trip to Crawley Wasps on Easter Sunday

8 April 2023

Oxford United Women travel to Crawley Wasps on Easter Sunday the 9th of April, in the Southern Premier Division. Kick off is at 2PM at Hanbury Park Stadium.

The U’s make the trip as they enter their final five games of the season, beginning a run in of four away games.

They’ve had a full week of training after their game against Ipswich Town last week was called off at the last minute, having travelled for the weekend.

Only a month ago, United came out 6-1 victors against Crawley in the reverse fixture at Court Place Farm, as Daisy McLachlan and Carly Johns both scored excellent hat-tricks.

Crawley currently sit bottom of the Southern premier division, but manager Liam Gilbert has never won away at Crawley in his time as United manager and is proud of his squad's focus.

“We’re dealing with more and more stuff that’s out of our control which has being pushed on us. Overcoming adversity is one of the things this group will be defined by.

“It’s a place we’ve not won at very often and it’ll certainly be on my mind. I don’t care about league position because that doesn’t matter now at the end of the season all that matters is the win.

“We need to make sure we approach the game in the right way and that all we are thinking about is the Crawley game nothing else. I just want to focus on the next game, if we keep taking them as they come, as we have done during the run that we are on, then hopefully that mentality will stay true.

“We’ve waxed lyrical about having a group of people, players and staff that are all pulling in the same direction and that’s such a unique thing to find especially with how things have played out recently. It’s just added more fuel, more focus and more drive. It’s had a positive effect because the training sessions of late have been some of the best I’ve ever been a part of.

“The Development Squad have also got their cup final and if they win their game in the league this weekend they’ll be Champions, so it’s a really positive time at the minute.

Get behind the U's as they begin their run-in for promotion.
