Oxford United’ Women’s season is over after the FA announced today that the current season will be declared null and void.
It means that results and tables will not stand for this season, with no promotion or relegation and all teams starting anew once football can safely resume.
Manager Liam Gilbert told us
“It is frustrating but I want to thank everyone who has been part of what has been a hugely important year for the women’s side. We have built steadily and sensibly and have a fantastic group of players who I know will be gutted not to get the chance to finish the season.
“I want to thank those players, and all of the staff behind the scenes for their support. But what is happening right now in the world is much more important than football and the biggest message I want to get out there is to all the fans. You have been amazing this season so stay home, stay safe, and we will be back stronger than ever just as soon as we can.”
