Rose Kite Joins Oxford United Women

Keeper signs for the U's

20 July 2020

Oxford United Women are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Rose Kite.

Having played for England Under-19s and Southampton Women, Kite becomes The U’s' first new signing of the summer.

Rose filled us in on what to expect when she takes to the field:

“So, I like to play out from the back, I’d say that is one of the strengths of my game. I love throwing myself about, and chucking myself at people’s feet, and I think I am very brave. For my greatest strength, I’d say my one-on-ones. Coming out, I’m quite brave, so I’d say that is one of the strongest areas of my game.”

Rose joins four of United Women’s stars in committing to the club for 2020/21 and explained how the upcoming season is all about progressing as a player and as a team.

“I just want to grow as a player; I’m still young so I have got a lot of experience and a lot of things to learn and it will be good to do it at this club.Southampton were really good; it was a good stepping stone for my future. I learnt a lot there; the coaches were really good as well as the players. I really enjoyed it and it built my confidence and got me into women’s football. I gained a lot of experience there – now I’m looking to grow that further.”

“Actually, Southampton helped me get in contact with Oxford, and Liam [Gilbert] is great. I met up with him a couple of times and had chats, he’s a really nice guy and it went well.”

“I like Oxford’s ambitions, obviously looking to win the league, and looking at last season the team did really well, it was just frustrating with the virus that everything had to stop. But the ambitions this year are really big, and I want to achieve what they want to achieve, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

“Meeting the girls last week was really good and it is nice to be getting back into the swing of things and back to normality as it is at the moment. But I can’t wait to be back on the field and playing against bigger teams.”
