Oxford United Women continued their good form with a 4-2 home win over Loughborough Foxes on Sunday. Two goals from Flo Fyfe and strikes from Cat Beaver and Emily Allen earned the U's all three points.

Manager Liam Gilbert said:

"It feels great to finally get our first home win, albeit at a different home venue at Ardley It was a game where we were tested against a very well organised Loughborough side.

"We had to come from behind, deal with giving up a lead and defend an onslaught in the later stages. Sometimes you enjoy the wins more when you have to deal with adversity. Loughborough played some really good football at times and had us under some intense pressure. We were able to react to this and saw the game out in a very professional manner.

"It is pleasing again that we have had three different goal scorers in a game. Flo Fyfe showed a brilliant reaction to being left out of the starting line-up against Gillingham by scoring two great goals. One she curled in the far corner from the corner of the box and the second was a first time finish from a Lauren Allison cross. Cat Beaver scored her first goal on her return to the club, the goal came from an Ellie Noble corner which led to a goalmouth scramble that Cat was able to put in the roof of the net. The best was saved for last where to quote one of the Oxford fans on Twitter it was 'a Tony Yeboah like finish' which put the game out of reach of Loughborough.

Today’s game showed people again the character that we have in this group; they didn’t give up or drop their heads after giving up two goals. They dug in and fought for each other, there is a clear unity and the players again deserve all the credit for today’s performance.

"Not just for winning but how they have gone about it. As a coaching team we put a game plan together that we thought would play to our strengths and they executed it superbly at times. There will always be things that we want to improve on but for me we are getting better every week and that’s all I can ask for from the team."
