A social event for Oxford United’s senior supporters designed to create friendships and reduce feelings of loneliness registered another sold-out attendance, as Men's Team player Will Vaulks attended.
Over 100 people packed into Cowley Workers Social Club on Wednesday to watch Will make his Manor Club debut, to discuss a range of topics from his player career, through to the important work he is doing in suicide prevention.
The event continues to go from strength to strength and is organised by Oxford United in the Community, supporting the charity’s work. It inspires happier, healthier and better-connected communities across the county by harnessing the power of football.
Established in 2017, the Manor Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month during the football season with all supporters aged 50 or older invited to enjoy an afternoon in the company of a U’s legend. Visitors enjoy a buffet lunch before a question-and-answer session with the day’s guests, who are chaired by Rosie.
So far this season, the Manor Club has had some esteemed guests, with Will following Tim Williams and Stevie Kinniburgh. Next up in December is Mark Sale, which will take place on Wednesday 3 December.
Tickets are priced £7 and can be purchased online, in person or over the phone. No tickets will be available on the day, doors open at 11.30am with food provided. All proceeds from the event will support Oxford United in the Community’s projects and programmes.
